Cruel Compassion = Tough Love + Self-righteousness

    I've see far too much of this.
    But if it's cruel... can it really be compassionate? Isn't this an oxymoron?

    Well, it's meant here to contrast with "tough love", a love that can challenge or confront like an intervention. "Cruel Compassion" is more of a compromised form of it, a negative reflection or quality. Perhaps a comparison with co-dependence would be appropriate.
