Guilty By Disassociation?

There is of course a huge qualitative difference between evil caused by nature and evil acts perpetrated by man, except that both trigger woolly-headed reactions from lightweight theorists.

Take the Hitler phenomenon, which currently is a hot topic in France, where the latest German film on the tyrant's last hours has just opened. Was it not dangerous to present his human side in this superb movie called "Der Untergang" (The Downfall)? critics asked.

This is a question as shallow as the one whether a natural calamity did not disprove God existence.

"Of course Hitler was human, as were (Roman emperors) Nero and Caligula or (the genocidal Cambodian dictator Pol Pot," said Pannenberg. "They have to be shown as humans with human characteristics. They weren't devils. Instead, the Devil was their source of inspiration."
