Why Not?

Did you ever notice that nobody contemplates theodicies when things are good?
("Why, God, Why? I have terrific friends and plentiful food. How could this happen? How long, O Lord?")

    Actually, I know someone who does just this. He fears goodness b/c he has a such sense of impending doom on the other side of it. I'm often not sure if his is a case of paranoia or an exceptionally good grasp of reality.

    Maybe he just wants to have a head start. Then again, some people just like being prepared, I guess.
